Manyara National Park Tanzania
Lake Manyara National Park is a well-liked travel destination because of its stunning scenery, its enormous soda lake teeming with flamingos, and its diverse bird population. Huge baboon troop sizes, herds of elephants, and, if you’re lucky, lions that can scale trees can all be seen in the jungle. Numerous animals, including buffalo, warthogs, giraffes, wildebeest, and zebras, can be seen around the soda lake. The small Hippo Pool offers fantastic hippo viewing as well. They occasionally gather in large groups to take a mud bath to cool off and hide from the sun.
A fantastic vantage point for the 400-meter-high Rift Valley Escarpment is Lake Manyara. A large gap in the ground, known as the Great Rift Valley, extends down the eastern edge of Africa. It was created when the earth’s crust split apart roughly 20 to 25 million years ago. Even from orbit, this gigantic phenomenon, which resembles two lines flowing down Africa, can be seen. It offers various and unusual habitats. Enjoy the big soda lake, acacia woods, jungle forest, mountain cliffs, hot springs, and grassland regions.
From Arusha, a road safari takes you about 1 to 2 hours to get to the entrance gate. The entire road to the park is well surfaced while the inner roads may require you to use a good 4-wheel drive vehicle. As you approach the northern park entrance, you will drive through the Mto wa Mbu town where you can visit the local market in that area. This town is home to a number of indigenous tribes who since colonial times have lived and traded here. These include the Maasai, Tatoga, Iraq, gorowa, and the Chagga people.
All through the year, it is very easy to access this park, but it is usually best to go during the dry season, in the months of July to October when the inner roads are dry and very passable.
