JOZANI FOREST TOUR

The forest is best known for its kirks red colobus monkeys (kima punju in swahili), which are endemic to Zanzibar. About 10 years ago, the monkeys were considered to be in danger of extinction, but this trend has since reversed due to the conservation project. There are about 6000 red colobus monkey residing in Jozani Forest. J

PRISON ISLAND BOAT TRIP

The prison – which is now owned by a hotel – was built in 1893 and was originally intended to house violent prisoners from the mainland and sick people. You will get the opportunity to visit the tortoise sanctuary, which contains a large colony of giant tortoise imported from the Seychelles in the late 19th century.

NUNGWI CULTURAL VILLAGE TOUR

After Stone Town, the village of Nungwi is the second biggest town on the main island (known as Unguja, but just referred to as Zanzibar island) of Zanzibar. Nungwi is located at the very northern tip of the island, about a one hour drive from Stone Town. Though the village is known for a number of things, probably the most famous reason to visit Nungwi is to enjoy one of Zanzibar’s most spectacular beaches.
