Zanzibar Island
Are you considering a trip to Zanzibar? Imagining yourself on a tropical island getaway to Zanzibar with the most stunning beaches and coral reefs on the planet, this bountiful island is a paradise. Numerous kilometers of white sand beaches lined with palms and the crystal-clear seas of the Indian Ocean are there. In addition to a laid-back beach lifestyle, Zanzibar offers a rich cultural heritage. Visits to Stone Town are highly recommended. This beautiful ancient city offers a wide variety of lovely markets, eateries, and historical attractions.
The Zanzibar archipelago includes Pemba, Mafia, and numerous other smaller islands in addition to Zanzibar Island. Because of their extensive history in the spice trade and numerous spice farms, these islands are also known as the Spice Islands. Excellent beaches to rinse off the dust after your safari.
Zanzibar Beaches
The best beaches in the world may be found in Zanzibar. The Indian Ocean’s crystal pure seas and colorful coral reefs surround soft white sand beaches. On the island of Zanzibar, there are roughly 25 beaches and several fishing communities. Should you choose Zanzibar’s east or south or stay in the north?
The north and east coasts of Zanzibar have some of the island’s nicest beaches, all of which have pristine white sand and vibrant coral reefs. Due to the lack of high and low tides, Nungwi and Kendwa are among the most well-liked beaches. It boasts a laid-back vibe and offers a variety of restaurants, pubs, and lodging options. Therefore, you should travel to a different area of the island if you want true peace and seclusion (like the east or south). Villages like Uroa, Pongwe, Kiwengwa, Nungwi, and Kendwa may be found in the north.
The most beautiful beaches are on the island’s east shore. A stunning coral reef, a top diving and snorkeling location in the world, extends along the eastern coastline. The wealth of marine life, which includes sea horses, turtles, and numerous tropical species, can be experienced firsthand. This east coast’s beaches are quite tidal. You can stroll down the beach and take in the ocean views during low tide. This is the ideal location for you if you enjoy kite- or wind-surfing. The longest and one of the most picturesque beaches on this part of the island is Matemwe. Similar to the north, there are numerous lodging possibilities.
Long stretches of soft sand beaches can be found in this region of the island. Due to the consistent winds, it is the greatest location on the island for sailing, kiteboarding, and windsurfing. Get aboard a dhow, a traditional wooden sailboat, and sail the ocean, or visit Kizimkazi and go dolphin-spotting (south). Little settlements like Jambiani, Paje, and Bwejuu can be found here. These people are pleasant and the small fishing community has a lovely, timeless atmosphere. Jambiani is one of our favorite communities.
There are fewer lodges and uninhabited beaches in the south west coast, which is a little more isolated. Although there are some stunning beaches with calm tides towards the west and south of Zanzibar, these beaches are less well-known. Don’t forget to visit Menia Bay Conservation Area if you’re in the south. Divers can explore a beautiful underwater environment here. The interesting old Stone Town, Zanzibar’s center of culture and history, is located on the western coast.

When is the best time to visit Zanzibar?
The dry season, which lasts from June to October and from December to February, is when most people travel to Zanzibar. Zanzibar Island, on the other hand, is a fantastic beach destination all year round. It is stunning even in the rainy season (mid-March, April, May, and November), when temperatures are still around 28 C and rain showers don’t linger for more than 30 minutes. The hottest month in Zanzibar is February (average 28 C), while the coldest month is July (average 24 C). Zanzibar has a tropical climate therefore any time is an excellent time to go there.
Accommodation in Zanzibar
Beach resorts with an international flair are uncommon in Zanzibar, and those that do occasionally appear to miss the mark and might be anywhere. Although Zanzibar’s service standards are always improving and occasionally good in a laid-back fashion, they rarely meet the standards of treatment that most guests would anticipate from a premier international resort. Shidolya Tours knows most of the lodging options in Zanzibar, so feel free to ask us for recommendations. We favor the intimate setting of the island’s little bed & breakfast lodges. The staff is highly friendly and will go above and beyond to make sure you have a good day. There are so many fantastic restaurants and bars with stunning seaside views and welcoming atmospheres.
